RwGNews: Indigenous Contractors Association of Niger Delta Development Commission protest non-payment of over 2 years of debts by the commission | www.RwGOnline.com

 Over 200 contractors under the auspices of the  Indigenous Contractors Association of Niger Delta Development Commission, protested the non-payment of over 2 years of debts by the commission.

Members of the association, who were seen carrying banners and chanting solidarity songs, barricaded the gate to NDDC headquarters, calling for the constitution of a substantive NDDC board.

They vowed to continue until their demands were met. According to them the commission is owing them for over two years now .

Chairman of the association,  “The point is that there must be an end to this evil. They owe us for over 2 years. “We are saying today will be the last time the NDDC will shortchange the destinies of contractors in the commission. We want them to pay us 

“Until the President answers us, we will not stop the protest or leave this gate.”

Meanwhile, the commission was yet to comment on the development as no official came out to address the protesters, and efforts to reach officials of the commission and the police proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
