In times of political turbulence, leadership is not measured by power, but by the courage to embrace peace for the greater good. I wholeheartedly commend and celebrate the bold and fatherly decision of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara , GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, for accepting the path of peace and reconciliation in the interest of our dear State and her people.
By choosing to work with all stakeholders, irrespective of political differences, the Governor has once again demonstrated that his leadership is anchored on unity, maturity, and development. This decision rekindles the hope of the good people of Rivers State, people who have long yearned to feel the true dividends of democracy. Today, that hope is being restored.
During the dark days of disunity and when a state of emergency loomed, our beloved Rivers State was slipping from the hands of its sons and daughters. Strangers began to manage the affairs of our land, making decisions that did not favour our people or reflect our collective aspirations. But with this renewed commitment to peace and cooperation, we can once again take ownership of our future and rebuild with purpose and pride.
As a proud and loyal foot soldier of Governor Fubara, I and my followers fully accept and align ourselves with the peace and reconciliation efforts. I commit to working hand in hand with all stakeholders, regardless of past disagreements, for the singular goal of advancing Rivers State. Now is the time to move forward. Now is the time to build, together.
I also extend profound gratitude to the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike - CON, GSSRS, for giving himself selflessly to the cause of peace and unity. Your pivotal role in the election victory of our Governor will never be forgotten, and your continued efforts in this reconciliation process speak volumes of your commitment to Rivers State.
We may disagree at times, but we do so only to find stronger ground on which to agree. The peace we embrace today is the foundation for the prosperity we seek tomorrow. Peace is priceless. Terror is senseless. Let us all give peace a chance.
For the sake of our children, our communities, and the generations to come, let this moment mark the beginning of a new chapter, a chapter of unity, purposeful governance, and sustainable development in Rivers State.
